Radical Living started its Easter celebration Friday morning at 6:45 a.m. with a pancake and prayer breakfast at the Pulaski House. On Saturday a few of us attended a NY Faith & Justice meeting in Harlem. The guest speaker was Dr. Luis Rivera. He spoke about the paradigm of confrontation and collaboration in the context of empire. At the end of the meeting there was a Holy Saturday liturgy, followed by a lunch. After the meeting we went to the farmer’s market to buy Easter lilies.
Our Easter celebration culminated in a common meal and party with friends and family at the Hart House. There were about twenty people present. After we ate we had a Paschal Vigil in which we prayed and read scripture. We also observed three (Lou, Jonathan and Alissa) people’s birthdays. It was a great time of gift-giving, singing and fellowship. The event started at 6 p.m. and went until midnight.
Sunday morning a few people went to the sunrise service at the Brooklyn Tabernacle and then walked across the Brooklyn Bridge. It was a great weekend. God is good and through his Son gives us reason to celebrate.
Here are a few pics from the Saturday Easter celebration.
